NYAA Camp
Last Saturday I had to go to school early for the NYAA Camp. Elyssa, Jia Wen, Penelope, Ying Xuan and I had the camp on the same day so we sort of gathered in the foyer coincidentally and walked to the mini-amphitheatre together.
Uh, we were split into six groups so none of us were together. My group had Germaine, Li Hui, Ruth, Yen Yee, Yu Yue and Zan, I didn't know all of them, tsk. We played icebreakers and then started the day's activities. We did pruuu-something (I forgot the name), rope balancing, rock climbing, absailing, Scavenger Hunt and obstacle course. I guess they were pretty fun. I had my first rope burn doing the pruuuwhatever; a piece of skin came off and there was pus but I was quite happy that I got the experience of getting rope burn.
Then we went to the next station, which was the balancing on thick ropes. We had to complete the whole thing twice, once blindfolded. It was kind of cool 'cause you can only depend on your group mates to tell you the direction and stuff. I thought it was impossible at first but when I got on the rope it all seemed achieveable. The NYAA Camp seems to be like Adam Khoo training or something.
After that was lunch, and we had to cook on our own with portable gas stoves and mastins, it was not that bad, but they only gave us plain maggie noodles, really plain and tasteless ones, hotdogs, and cabbage. Uh, we weren't provided with plates at first and they didn't ask us to bring. They still gave us plates in the end though. Lunch pretty sucked and I felt like ordering McDonald's.
I can't really remember events in chronological order, I'll just talk about some memorable stuff.
There was this obstacle course and everyone in the group had a disability/ disabilities except for one person who is normal. I was the normal one so the obstacle course was quite easy, it was just a matter of whether I wanted to do it or not. We had to crawl under the sit-up woods, whatever you call them, and there were so many insects underneath. Ants bit me here and there, and my PE shirt was soiled. It was disgusting but I had fun. Our team had so much team spirit! Li Hui and Zan were 'blind' and Ruth had, one hand and one arm only, hahaha. They had to climb the relatively high wall, it was possible with our help of course, that's the power of team work.
After that was Scavenger Hunt I think, ooh-ooh it was so exciting 'cause we'd get to bathe first if we get first so everyone was all, 'Must win!'. We ran all over the school to find the clues and guess riddle, then do tasks to entertain the station mistresses. I think that Scavenger Hunt was a successful one.
Shall not elaborate, jump to dinner time. Dinner was disgusting, we had plain maggie noodles again, plus leftover cabbage from lunch which already turned smelly, mushrooms, satays and sardines I think. The two mushrooms kept me alive miraculously. The canned satay and sardines were, yuck. Okay, we had night games. Twister on rotten fruits sure sucks. Rotten bananas were like bird shit and rotten papayas stank. I had to put my ear and cheek on them, I was dumb enough to really put my body parts on those rotten fruits 'cause the station mistresses won't really know whether you're really touching the rotten fruits.
After the night activities we gathered at mini-amphitheatre and they announced the winners for the Scavenger Hunt, we got Second! We ran back to the tents to get our stuff and bathe. I forgot to bring my towel so I ran back to take and by the time I went back to the toilet the cubicles were all occupied and I waited till it was time to assemble then I got a cubicle. It was all so rushed, I didn't even wash with soap, I just cleaned myself water. I felt so dirty! And my face was Da Oil VS. Da Water. Oil won, shit. Slept in the tent with eight other people, it sucked, I slept in a R.I.P position and it was so crammed that Ying Xuan didn't sleep at all. She sat up all night counting the number of cars that passed by, hahahaha. She was the one who woke us up at 6.30AM the next day.
We cooked breakfast, tsk. Ovaltine 3-in-1, haven't drunk them since a long time ago. And I ate two pieces of plain bread. Jam and peanut butter suck. I felt as if I was living in the war period when food was rationed and people were so deprived. After breakfast we had a debrief, collected our T-shirts, and we were free!
My father came to fetch me. I didn't have the time to sleep when I reached home 'cause I had to go with my mother and sister to buy food for the barbeque at Aunt Lillian's house for my grandmother's 70th birthday.
I'll blog about the birthday celebration another time, haven't uploaded the pictures.
After my grandmother's birthday celebration it was real late at night, reached home and slept all the way till 4PM the next day (Youth Day holiday) and made up for the loss of sleep over the the past two days. Then I did my Biology Performance Task, there, another portion of my youth gone.
Yesterday there was Art Club, I reached home at 7.30PM and had to rush our group's literature presentation. I wonder why we should waste our time doing these non-graded presentations, tsk. I spent a lot of time looking for information but there were little information available on the net on my topic so I only finished it at past twelve. And I didn't even revise for the Graphs test which was today. I sat on the bed flipping through the worksheets but I fell asleep before even reading half of them.
Then when I woke up today I was damn scared, I went to school to study. I was really tired and what's worse, Mathematics was the last block. Before that was Geography and Koh Bock Yin has a hypnotizing voice. Fortunately the test was pretty manageable. By the way, there was a fire drill early in the morning today and we lost almost half of the Biology lesson. We were watching a really nice video on plants, grrr! Yeah, luckily today was a short day, I reached home early and had my rest.
